Costa Rica El Mango (Honey)
Yellow Peach | Orange Blossom | Mango
Description
Sweet, vibrant, and beautifully balanced.
High in the mountains of Costa Rica's renowned Chirripó region, Finca El Mango is one of several family-owned farms operated by Café Rivense, a respected producer dedicated to crafting exceptional specialty coffees. Founded by Régulo Ureña and Isabel Rojas in 2005, the farm remains family-operated today, with the next generation continuing a tradition of quality, sustainability, and innovation.
Unlike many producers, Café Rivense oversees every step of production—from growing and harvesting the coffee cherries to processing them at their own wet and dry mills—allowing complete control over quality and traceability. Their dedication has earned international recognition, including a 5th-place finish in the 2019 Costa Rica Cup of Excellence, one of the world's most prestigious coffee competitions.
This lot is processed using the Honey Process, a uniquely Costa Rican method in which a portion of the fruit's natural sugars remains on the seed during drying. Carefully dried on raised beds before finishing on patios, the coffee develops exceptional sweetness, a silky body, and remarkable fruit complexity while preserving the clean, balanced profile that Costa Rican coffees are known for.
Grown between 1,500 and 1,650 meters above sea level, Finca El Mango is planted primarily with Catuai and Caturravarieties, thriving in the region's cool mountain climate and mineral-rich soils. Sustainable farming practices—including thoughtful shade management, protected water sources, and responsible fertilizer use—help ensure the long-term health of both the farm and its surrounding ecosystem.
In the cup, expect a lush combination of yellow peach, ripe nectarine, and warm cherry pie, creating a smooth, fruit-forward coffee with a silky finish and elegant sweetness that shines across every brewing method.
