Karimikui Factory, run by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative since 1997, supports 850 farmers near Embu on Mt. Kenya’s southern slopes. At around 1,800 masl, its cool climate and rich red soil are perfect for growing coffee. Cherries are washed with clean water from the Naymindi River. The cooperative promotes sustainability through soak pits, shade tree planting, and farmer education, while also offering advances and quality-based incentives.
